This year's international politico-cultural tour took the European Women's Circle to Stockholm, the Venice of the north, from June 04 to June 07, 2015.

The trip participants enjoyed talks from several points of views with representatives from politics and society on the political and economic situation in Sweden and on the Status of Women. After an excellent guided tour of the Parliament Building, the participants met Maria Plass, MP for the Moderate Party of Sweden. As is the case in other Scandinavian countries, the proportion of women employed - in all
areas - and in higher positions is significantly higher than the EU average.

Sweden, with 10 million inhabitants and 30% employees in public service (Germany by comparison: 80 million inhabitants and 8% employees in public service), has a high youth unemployment rate although measures of employment policy are naturally more easily implemented. Most parents have to both be working full-time due to the very high cost of living. The level of pensions is relatively low.

The extensive cultural program with presentations on the history of Sweden led the group to the castle and the castle church, to the extraordinary Vasa Museum and the famous town hall. In the countryside, castle Drottingholm was visited and a Skerry ride let participants enjoy the island scenery around Stockholm. A few days before midsummer, the city was bathed in a wonderful light each night, as is only known in the north. Once again, the successful politico-cultural tour with many impressions and harmonious companionship passed much too fast.
